Tech screws," also commonly called "Tek screws," are a type of self-drilling screw used to fasten materials like metal and wood together without the need to pre-drill a pilot hole, making them ideal for applications like metal roofing, construction projects, cladding, and attaching metal components to wood, as they can drill and tap threads simultaneously in one operation; essentially combining the functions of a drill bit and a screw.

We stock the most commonly used sizes for HVAC applications (most popular Head type is Hex Head but sometimes Pan Head is requested), available in Zinc Plated, Galvanised or Stainless Steel with or without Neoprene Washer for Metal and Wood.

If you can not find your desired Tech Screw,  please contact our team.
Key points about Tek screws:
  • Self-drilling feature:
The main characteristic of a Tek screw is its drill-like tip, which allows it to cut its own hole in the material it is being screwed into.

  • Versatile applications:
They are used in a wide range of construction scenarios, including metal-to-metal, metal-to-wood, and roofing applications.

  • Time-saving benefit:
By eliminating the need for pre-drilling, Tek screws significantly speed up fastening processes.

  • Common names:
While "Tek screw" is the most widely used term, they are also sometimes called "self-drilling screws" or "metal screws".

We also stock other commonly used fasteners used in the HVAC industry ie. Set Screws, Nuts, Bolts, Washers, Threaded Rod, Base Plates, Joiners & Anchors.
